To support the validation of new concepts to allow Airlines to prioritise flights that are delayed at airports, the SESAR PJ07 team has formally accepted the validation environment based on the INNOVE NM ATFM gaming platform developed by ISA in collaboration with EUROCONTROL.

The PJ07 validation will connect external tools to INNOVE including the ATHOS Airport Operations Platform from Airbus/Ariane and the UDPP Server to support the validation of Airline-Airport coordination with UDPP during exercises planned in 2019.

In December 2018, several Airlines (Air France, Air Baltic, Swiss, HOP!, Transavia, Thomas Cook, El AL), IATA and Amsterdam (EHAM) airport operational experts accepted the INNOVE-APOC-UDPP V2 platform for the SESAR 2020 PJ07 validation exercise on the User Driven Prioritisation Process at the EUROCONTROL Experimental Centre.

The validation platform connects the EUROCONTROL Flow Management simulator (INNOVE) and the Airport Operations Centre (APOC) simulator (ATHOS) to form the infrastructure on which the ATOS UDPP server interfaces with different airlines’ Flight Operations Centre HMIs.

The challenge of integrating tools from different third-party providers and involving multiple users, which represented a significant technical and operational challenge for INNOVE, has been successfully achieved.

EUROCONTROL and its partners are now finalizing the validation scenarios ready for the exercises planned in 2019 to validate the UDPP concept operating when deteriorated arrival capacity leads to important delays for a number of flights.
